The 7th Arrondissement in Paris
Overview
The seventh arrondissement is a very upscale residential neighborhood, with mainly very expensive apartment houses, and a number of beautiful sites to see. There is not much shopping in the majority of areas of this arrondissement, except in the eastern most portion (rue de Sevres, rue de Duroc), and on the Boulevard St. Germain near the 6th. The famous Bon Marche department store is located at Sevres-Babylone, and all well dressed French woman shop there from time to time. There is a famous market street in the heart of the 7th, called the Rue Cler, where local residents do most of their shopping. The 7th is not very lively and there is limited nightlife, but there are a number of government buildings and foreign Ministries located there. There is the famous building called Les Invalides and the Esplanade des Invalides offers sprawling lawns that are not off-limits for frisbee-playing and picnicking. The western most portion of the 7th borders on the Champs de Mars and the World Famous EIFFEL TOWER.
